Located at a residential infill site, this duplex housing project affords the clients of a poet and an author a space for flexibility in living, creating, and performing. In thinking of these clients, I sought out a design which would allow for them to transform the space in which they live and work, to be in dialogue with one another, to the public, and within themselves.

An open plaza at the center interlocks the two units, where both main entrances are located, as well as a space for gathering and informal interaction may occur. Here too lie a connection where walls fold outwards, bridging the two units into one entirely closed system. The possibility for greater gatherings, varying tenants, and visitors who are unified becomes a reality.
